A Cornered Gurl

Every Single Minute, Every Single Second

a free verse poem on how our universe is composed of small moments

Photo by Sidney Severin on Unsplash

a new spaceship igniting to space, unknown,
sweaty firefighters, desperately trying to calm the forest fires,
a grandmother, in a mask, teary-eyed, watching the newborn granddaughter,
a doctor, overwhelmed by the pandemic, red-eyed, looking towards the horizon,
a taxi driver, frantically searching for someone, someone to board,
a small vendor, shivering down his spine, thinking of steps ahead,
people, gathering in the streets, determined eyes, ready for a protest, a movement,
two lovers, wrapped in a hug, meeting after a long, long time,
that ant, seeping in the last, golden rays of the sun, as it sets,
a firefly, spellbound, on seeing that luminescent phytoplankton,
a passing asteroid, marveling at the beauty of planet earth,
a small rivulet, dreaming, dreaming to meet the sea,

so many moments, so many organisms,
perched across the universe,
scribbling stories, new and extraordinary,
every single minute, every single second.

Thank you so much, Tre, for sheltering so many of my stuff, here!
