Haibun a Heart

A haibun challenge

Slightly scared, we sat upon the beach, talking — not touching, waiting for a signal this would become the deep passion we both felt within our beings, waiting to know if we both felt it, that it was safe to allow our inner selves to show. Love, a deep joy, a source of great pain when twisted and contorted, had taught us to be cautious, but our trembling was desire.

Waves advance slowly
creeping up on us as love
lapped our hearts’ edges
