I used to drown in others’ poisons
before I learned to drink my own
before I learned to smile through my teeth
instead of discharging it
forcing them to eat crow
I see my sensitivity as gold
and now I see the pain
in the lies I was told
So I let it slip
through my fingers to go
backwards, wrapping itself
with anything
I have no use for
