In The Deep of Addiction

When you’re stuck in the current but you love the rush
the adrenaline flowing in your veins,
the sense of danger yet the fun therein,

Your escapade that leads to grief,
The repeating birth date of your guilt,

You don’t know if it’s the heart or the brain
That yells to tell you to stop
Worse is, both love it the same

When you try to reach the nearest branch
While sinking in deepest river,
You want it but you fight it,
You love it but you hate it,

When you’re lost in the woods but you love the rush
hidden from the light by the trees upon your head,
But you love the shade despite the shame,

An excuse to run away from truth,
A call in sick on the busy workday,
A victim-card in confrontation,
But soon the card’s run out and the signal’s lost

Soon, you’ll know;
Problems don’t leave, they’re just reprieved
Unless they’re faced, they only age
