now she dances along the song he used to hum
the song of when he burned her love for someone else
now she sings along the song he used to strum
the song of when he celebrated love with someone else

now she treads in thread of dark blue silk
the blue he wore on their first date
now she cooks a pan with buttermilk
the taste he craved after their Waltz

now she sees a town with her pure beam
the beam she’s longed for after years

now she lives a life in high note songs
the kind she fears when he’s around
