LETTER

Hello, you wondrous thinkers, tinkerers of necessity, and workers of time. Thank you for your presence here in A Cornered Gurl. I am humbled and delighted by each of you. What has July given us here on Medium? I will share with you (from my perspective) some of the best poetry and short stories within up and coming publications making waves here and each person/pub representative(s) mentioned could use your eyes, care, and support. Let’s get started, shall we?
Meg has created a publication solely for words in action “as commentary” at Resistance Poetry. Ré Harris, Harper Thorpe, Patsy Starke, and Dennett are some of the contributors. The pub is jumping with poetry and resistance writing that will leave you wanting more. If you have not already done so, stop on by and give this publication making a name for itself a Follow. You will not be disappointed.
Ayesha Talib Wissanji gives artists from every facet a home in The Scene & Heard Journal Online. She and her brother Omar welcome those of you willing to showcase your art with the understanding that Medium will not be its only home. The Scene & Heard Journal of Artistic Reflections is a multifaceted print publication and its salutatory issue will be available soon. Writers/Artists participating there via the online version include myself, Alya, Melissa Najera, Matt Vercillo, Robert Kamarti Moore, and Vinod Shenoy. Dive in, you will enjoy the swim.
S Lynn Knight sprung into action structurally when she introduced Haiku Hub. I can find sweet rest there, pack up all of my belongings, and set up camp. I adore haiku and I am happy to see a publication dedicated to it and it alone. Lovely participants seen there are Elizabeth Helmich, Aura Wilming (usually focused on Fiction, she is actually throwing it down in 5–7–5, Yes, Gawd!), Daniel Roxas, Sherry Kappel, Samantha Wallen, and Anery Patel.
What can be found in A Cornered Gurl? I am working on a series entitled Home and am up to the third installment. The characters are growing on me and I love the adventure they seem to be guiding me through. Also, it has been a month of restructuring my life and health, so The Untold Mystery, Ancestral Guidance, and Location are products of this. I am honored by your care and support here. All of you are worth the words you share and so much more.
Shall we dance? Why not? Jill Scott’s Hate On Me “gives me all the life” (as my cousin likes to say). I hope it gives you a little bit too.
If I gave you sanity for the whole of humanity
Had all the solutions for the pain and pollution
No matter where I live, despite the things I give
You’ll always be this way, so go ‘head andHate on me, hater…
