political parties and pundits who pontificate
poorly place themselves in his path
he writes their news — politically correct
poised, choosing words that
catapult the storyline, telling us
what we need to know.

we exchange pleasantries, two beings
blessed by the Black experience, pouring
our hearts out for our peers — poignantly.
patience is key — passive aggression will get
you nowhere and he knows this.
he’s polite and proactive, kneels not
only in defeat but in victory.

a man who pursues the truth and
pulls it out when it’s in hiding —
plausible . . . determined to reach
his audience yet breaking when time
calls for it — never persuaded
you can bet your last dollar
on his words.

when the fight knocks on his door,
he will be ready, willing, and able to
place himself in the line of fire —
planted and firm.
sure and steady as a tree’s roots,
solid as a rock.

who has the power to denounce
him? put up or shut up, plan
on being moved and righted from
the ways of wrong. proceed with caution
and prove yourself worthy of
debatable banter with the
collected few.

he’s a proper opponent.
pure — not tainted, preceding
people poorly prepared
for life.

*For , who is a bit silent these days but never quiet. Peace.
