Closing your chapter for good

A Cornered Gurl

your kiss felt so real in my dreams
on my cheek, it softly landed
a nerve-wracking one, an emotional blur
you do know i’m not her, do you remember?

you smiled afterwards, and gazed at my eyes
saying how much you missed me day and night
you grabbed my hand and i swear its beams
held it tight like it was never mine

my mind’s not mine, it never escapes us
though nothing ever went past the thoughts
you’re something i am yet to recover from
we could’ve had it all; the world, but
we drank from the same poison vine,
died,
and survived alone.
