i.
she asked to kiss me
as if she knew my reply
was never in doubt
with thousands of miles between
brittle conscience and a wife

ii.
two lonely voices
connecting across a void
what could tempt us more
than the promise of mending
wounds we cannot dare to feel?

iii.
she was an answer
to questions I dare not ask
she was a promise
that horizons can be breached
ethos beyond our vision

iv.
chilly midnight breeze
contrasts with her heated breath
on my skin, a storm
unmooring goosebumped yearnings
untethered by her soft tongue

v.
her scent on the wind
beckons to join her in flight
I do not follow
though daydreaming soul’s nature
knows her nature’s course by heart
