The Blues is heartache manifested
Into healing rivers for centuries of pain.
Gutteral sounds pushed from the diaphragm
Are soul-saving lifeforms given to us for experience.
The strumming of strings urges a guitar to dance,
a piano to smile, and drums to shoot lightning in our feet.
We are a people unafraid to show our true selves.
We come in various colors and shades.
The Blues is a way to share stories of our
history — of times before times when we could not get free.
If you listen to Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and Fats Domino,
You will be drawn to us — connected by sound.
Whatever pain you feel, whatever change that takes
its toll could be, would be forever changed by The Blues.
