Hello May, and hello everyone!
Spring has arrived here in Portugal. After weeks of moody skies and temperamental storms that showed up unannounced, there’s finally some warmth again. At last, there is sunshine, and some softness.
On my balcony, I have taken to the dead roots. I’m not much of a gardener, but the Spring urged me to step into this role. As such, I put on my gloves, and got digging, pulling, throwing out, renewing, and planting.
The whole thing has been wonderfully grounding, which is much needed in the times that run. That deep satisfaction that comes with tending to something slowly, with care and patience.
The day I began ploughing through my limited plot of land was the day the lights went out in the Iberian Peninsula.
For hours, everything was quiet — except the drunk girls returning from the beach…
