Fighting Uphill

If you’re fighting a downhill battle, it might be easier but it probably means you stand to lose something.

If you’re fighting an uphill battle, it might be more difficult but it probably means you stand to gain something.

When it gets difficult, consider again what it is you stand to gain.

What is the hill you’re fighting for?

This question, the question of what gives your fight meaning, is inexpressibly important.

What is the hill that you stand to gain?

Call it your purpose, call it whatever.

Is it worth it?

Or will you reach the top of the hill and wonder why you ever wanted it?

Is it worth it?

If it is — you’ll gain a new energy to continue.

If it isn’t — find something that is.

You’ll end up fighting for something — whether you’re fighting to defend it or to gain it, whether it’s uphill or it’s downhill.

So, make the something worth it.
