Welcome

Welcome to A Dark Wood. Pour a cup of coffee or another favorite beverage and have a seat next to the fire. Whether you are a reader or a writer or a little bit of both, I’m glad you found this space. I am figuring out how this works.

A Dark Wood recognizes and seeks to include diverse populations. As an editor, I am committed to publishing a wide range of well-written stories that reflect a variety of perspectives and experiences. I hope you will consider adding your voice to those beginning to congregate here.

a dark wood?

I want to clarify what I mean by the title of the journal and the writing styles. Just to get the more obvious issue out of the way perhaps: Stories do not have to take place in a wood. Because something dark can unfold anywhere and in the bright beautiful sunshine means that multiple times and places are fitting in terms of a story’s setting.

100% gloomy?

That being said, a story doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom. Making it weird enough, or surreal enough, or absurd…
