We started off the day by waking up at 6am to get ready to go on a floating market (and food tour!).

Our first stop was Taka Floating market, which was a tranquil and calm floating matket. For those who don’t know what a floating market is, it’s basically like a market of food on boats.

They do all the cooking on the little boats!

Started off with some “money bags”, which are kinda like fried spring rolls in bag form.

Some egg, mussels, and tapioca with bean sprouts. The tapioca gives it a gooey (and weird texture).

Tried this interesting fruit drink. Honestly no idea what it is but it tasted kinda like a sweet tomato juice. Might be good for a bloody mary!

Liz climbed a tree to touch the sap used to make coconut sugar (which is in a lot of Thai dishes).

For lunch, I got a tom yum soup with noodles. Overall good but the “seafood” was just like fake fish balls.

We next went to a train market, which is literally a market on train tracks. And when the train comes through, the shopkeepers pull back their shops. It’s really interesting but also kind of makes you think “why?”. Note that the train does go really slow.

Liz doing some cooking.

My favorite food of the day! Fried soft shell crab that you can just eat whole. I love crab so I naturally loved this.

An amazing grilled scallop. Simple, tasty. Fresh.

Grilled prawns. Simple, could use some more salt though.

Grilled crab. Tasty!

The boat that cooked our seafood!

A giant lizard we just saw at the market randomly. It’s pretty fast and can swim too. Pretty scary.

For dinner, we went to Khaosan rd, which is the backpackers paradise (and around the area we’re staying). Had to end our last night in Bangkok with some mango sticky rice!

Thanks Bangkok for a fun time!
