Short stories
One of my favorite photos that I’ve taken. I was on a business trip down to the San Jose area and I decided to just rent a car and drive down Route 1 which everyone says is the “prettiest” drive in America. I concur. But one thing no one mentions is it’s just plain fun to drive with lots of twists and turns and hills.
I took this photo while driving back from Pfeiffer Beach at sunset. I stop at a lot of places but this specific place I probably stopped for a good 10 minutes and just stood there for a minute. I don’t normally like traveling by myself but I was really glad I was able to go at my own leisure and pick which points I wanted to stop at and take a few moments for myself.
This was taken at Discovery Park in Seattle and I really, really liked the way how the water waves converged at one singular point. This was actually at the end of a “pointy” peninsula which housed a retired lighthouse. I don’t think I’ve ever seen waves act in this particular wave and it was interesting to watch them combine and cancel each other out (yay physics!).
Something unrelated, but I also saw this cute kid while taking this photo. He seemed like a natural adventurer and was a handful for his dad, which had to oversee not only this kid climbing rocks and throwing sticks in the water but also a just as energetic dog.
Another photo taken in Seattle, this was specifically at Golden Gardens. I called it “Three Friends” and reminds me a lot of hanging out at night with some of my closest friends. You don’t notice it in the moment, but you create some of the best memories in these relaxing moments. You know whats the best? When you’re out in public and randomly remember a funny moment from months ago and you try to hold in your laughter.
Taken from my first time camping in the state of Washington, this was at Lake Wenatchee at sunset. Very pretty, very relaxing, but the most vivid of memories from here is learning how to play the word game “Contact” when we brought no entertainment with us. Sometimes, you need to remember that there’s always ways to be social and have fun.
This one was actually taken by my Dad in Olympic National Park on Hurricane Ridge in the middle of winter. Around the Seattle area, it’s normally overcast all of winter but the sun decided to poke it’s head out for about a week nonstop during the Christmas to New Years timeframe. Naturally, we thought it a perfect time to go to a national park! Hurricane Ridge was the only place open for hiking and while there, we noticed a bunch of these birds basically surviving and thriving in snow covered trees. Stick your hand out and they’ll sometimes fly onto your hand and stare into your soul. So trusting these birds!
This was just a perfect opportunity photo. Taken at Reflection Lake at Rainier National Park. No words to describe the photo and how perfect everything looked in person.
Going off on a tangent, I’ve been really lucky with clouds disappearing over mountains. My shining (no pun intended) moment was when I was visiting Mt. Everest Base Camp for about 2 days. Mt. Everest is usually always covered by clouds so I was kinda sad to not be able to see it in full but on our way down, the sun decided to poke out and clear away all the clouds around Everest. That was probably the most breathtaking moment of my life and half an hour later, it was all gone behind the clouds.
Taken on the Whistler to Blackcomb Peak 2 Peak gondola. If you haven’t had a chance to go to Whistler, I highly recommend it, even if you’re not a skier. You can take the Peak 2 Peak gondola for a small fee and you get to ride a gondola literally from the peak of Whistler to the peak of Blackcomb (or vice versa) and it’s one of those scary yet relaxing rides. I’m naturally afraid of heights so the viewpoint took my breath away for multiple reasons. Snow covered trees, clouds in a valley, a beautiful day, what more could you want on a ski day?
