Health Update: Eris Caught Me

And I am not talking about the Greek Goddess, or am I?

Greetings, me lovelies. It has been a while since I’ve written about my current health state, and I figured it was time to do so. At the moment, I am once again bedridden and in isolation. Yes, Eris caught me. And I just got home this morning from a five-day stay in the hospital — not from Eris, initially. No, I was hospitalized for a painful kidney infection and ‘may have’ caught Eris while in the hospital, which extended my stay.

This got me thinking about the Greek Goddess Eris, the goddess of strife and discord. This virus strain is aptly named because it has caused me a lot of strife and discord — nothing harmonious about this thing! Is it worse than the two other strains I’ve had? In some ways, yes, but in other ways, no. This one started while I was already on antibiotics for the kidney infection — how the hell does that happen? And it felt like the beginnings of a cold — sore throat, stuffy nose, coughing, chest congestion, muscle aches, etc. By day three, they had me on a different antibiotic and oxygen, which I am still on at home for at least another few days. The biggest difference between the other two strains and this one is that the coughing isn’t as severe — maybe because they caught it early? However, the fevers and chills have been far worse.

Tomorrow, I must brave the outside world for another CT Scan to ensure the kidney infection has cleared up. I will never know why they didn’t just do one at the hospital before they released me this morning. And then, later next week, I will have another Covid test done to ensure it has cleared up.

The only silver lining is… I am kidney stone free!
