I’m not going to lie — August was a challenging month for me as I attempted to reach some of my goals. Thank goodness they were unrealistic and, at times, outlandish goals!

My physical and mental health always play a major role in how well I accomplish anything in life. This has just been a fact for me for decades now. And in the past, I have allowed my health issues to dictate my life, often shutting down if my mental state is too unstable or if my physical health forces me to just say ‘fuck it!’ and I fall into depression because I am just so exhausted from trying. It has been a nightmarish cycle for me. I’ve often wondered if this cycle of defeatism hasn’t really just become a bad habit. And if it has — and I am pretty sure it has — it is definitely time to break this bad habit and create a new, positive habit.

That’s what these unrealistic goals are for — forcing myself to be accountable, even if I do not reach every single goal I’ve set for myself. It is my aim to show up, every single month, and keep trying. And that is precisely what I plan to do again this month — show up and try to outdo myself from the previous month.

As my favorite true crime YouTuber, Mike from That Chapter is fond of saying…
