DGM 2271 focused on several different things about Digital Design and the resources and tools used in the industry. These revolve around Desktop Operating Systems, Input Devices, Mobile Devices, Graphics Applications, and Cloud Applications. The final section to learn and understand was basic graphs, then turning that into what’s called an infographic. You should know what these are, they can be serious or for humor. Either way, the goal is to inform the reader on the topic!

Both VERY important topics. Mainly the one on the right…

I needed a very serious topic, but to not make it so serious and approachable. I am very into the topic of saving bees, because without them we’d be in a lot of trouble. I was not very informative on the whole matter anyways, so what better way to learn about it than to create an infographic to inform others too?

The steps are easy (and these are just the basics):

  1. Research your topic

2. Get inspiration

3. Sketch it out

Steps 1–3

4. Map your content

5. Create a wireframe

Steps 4–5

6. Add all the goods in, pictures, color, content, etc.

Final Project

Looking at it today, I can point out all the ways I could have change it and added even more information. I also now know that infographics do not need to be this size. However, I created basically a “bee line” by given the main problem, how it can effect you, and then giving a call to action for people to do something. That’s what an infographic is all about! Take a situation that no one really takes seriously, and give it attention with cute pictures and lots of color… and actual facts.
