Perdoname madre por mi vida… VEGAN!

You probably know that in Italy — especially in the South — the most important question your mother asks you when you grow and you are far away from her is: ‘Have you eaten?!’. In fact, you may know that, not by chance, food and eating are one of the most important cultural aspects of our country, with the Mediterranean diet ruling our daily lives.
Now, imagine a mum, my mum — Rosaria — at the moment of my statement: ‘I wanna turn veggie!’. Thunders and storms all around her mind, directed to me! But, strongly convinced of my vegan values for this 14 days challenge, I tried to explain to Rosaria that being veggie helps us to let the planet being a better place and to have a more sustainable attitude.
So that is why my challenge started, initially with some problems and doubts.

DAY 1

Vegetables “Cianfrotto” in the making

It was Monday and unfortunately I had flu, so i couldn’t go to do my vegan shopping. Because of that, for my first meal I used what was already in my fridge: a lot of vegetables, which I turned into a “Cianfrotto”, a big pot of baked vegetables… so yummy! Before that — what a pity — I ate honey on bread and soon after I realized honey was not vegan at all. So disappointed, I tried to have a vegan dinner going to a restaurant in Milan called ‘Soul green’, where I could taste some delicious cheese made from cashew nuts, a very tasty veggie burger and finally a coffee and chocolate crumble.

DAY 2

The second day started with a grateful shopping in the City life centre (Tre Torri square), specifically at Carrefour market and DM market. You can see the picture in this post!

DAY 3

Special dinner — white wine and ginger/lentils soup and “Flower Burger” desserts

On the third day I had a special dinner with a ginger-lentils soup as a main course, white wine and I bought some vegan desserts to take away from a restaurant called ‘Flower Burger’.

So, that’s a wrap for now… stay tuned to discover the rest of my beautiful experience!
