What life will be if I only have €20 a week | Day 4–Day 6

I think I am very luck to have this challenge cause Chinese recipes are abundant & various, we can use same and not expensive materials to cook more than one kind of dish, and use multiple flavors to make it really delicious. It’s quite fit my goal. And another thing that very helpful is we like to share food with our friends! It’s a way to show our caring (also good for saving money).

Anyway, simple food maybe is the key to my challenge. I try to keep a balanced but not expensive diet — fruit, vegetables, meat are all necessary to health. For breakfast, I drunk Soya-bean milk — it’s really healthy( than coffee). And with bread or tarallini to begin my energetic day. So averagely €0.4 for every breakfasts. Well my lunches are not similar these 3 days. My friend help me a lot! Hazel and Xiaoyong shared their home-made delicious sushi (also from another challenge — zero waste) on Day 4, so I got a free lunch! And Fed lent me a pink container to grow some vegetables by my own at home. Meanwhile I got inspired from Xingyu’s “grow your own vegetables”challenge, I asked him for some mung beans, to grow them into mung bean sprout. I can use them to cook dishes, in fact I love mung bean sprout, so I don’t need to buy in Chinese store ( I really doubt the stores also grow them by themselves ). I feel grateful and happy that so many friends help me to complete my challenge!

For day5 the story got kind of “miserable”. It’s my day to go to the police station to input my finger prints for applying resident permit. After I got there they told me there has beed a problem. So… I couldn’t get my permit done nor a decent lunch — we had a group meeting after lunch. Anyway I finished my lunch on the train — tarallini again. But it’s good for my challenge, I decided to look into the bright side again! Day6 is much better, I learned a lesson from yesterday so I cooked my lunch by my own in advance. I didn’t need to buy some take-out once hungry “control” me. I can save money I told myself again and again. Use the microwave in the campus is a good way to save money too. We considered to buy one at first, like €59. As my challenge goes on, I find myself is pretty good at finding free stuff! It’s like I built an instinct! Sharing objects and public devices are my secrets!

For dinner, I didn’t eat too much due to my Italian courses (from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) I just made some simple while quick food to fill my stomach ( remember to eat food slowly according to the tips )

Speaking of Italian courses, the teacher asked us to buy a book for the after class exercises, I’d say it’s more than €20. I decided to find the digital version, better if it’s free. The students from senior grade shared the free digital version with me! So once again, I am heading to complete my challenge!

My mouse was kind of broken, instead of buying a new one, I decided to fix it. But after I looked into the mechanical structure, I find I can’t deal with it only by my hands — there is a very small lag spike, which I should remove first. I tried lots of things to act as a screwdriver to open it but failed. I thought I need a real one for sure…The first thought came up in my mind is to buy one, I remember I saw PENNY is selling them only for €1, however I remembered my challenge before it’s too late. Although it’s cheap, but maybe I use them for just one time, that’s actually the definition of waste. I asked everyone around if they have one. Do you want to hear the good news or bad one? Melo have them — many sizes of screwdriver! Very adaptive. However…It didn’t fit my mouse! So, the story didn’t have a happy ending for now. Well…give me some time, I can solve it eventually( Maybe! I am not sure!)

Thank you for your time to read my stories of €20-a-week challenge! My lovely readers! Will continue soon!

Regards,

Qiuyue
