Happy Hanukkah

As we stood in line to check out of the hotel a year ago this week, I noticed the menorah standing on a side table in the lobby, almost unnoticed, unlit.

It was dwarfed by the gigantic and bright-to-the-point-of-gaudy Christmas tree nearby; in contrast, the quiet elegance of the lines of the menorah mesmerized.
