Mad Cow Loose on the Land

Mad Cow is loose on the land

Not just a poser and his merry band

Not just the suck-ups that follow the stink

Not just the disciples with a nod and a wink

Not just the networks who sell the obscene

In line with the poser and his money machine.

Not just the religious who find a god in the gun

Rewrite the gospel, banish the son,

Redo the charter, men now in charge

Caucasian culture writ very large

Other races at the end of the line,

Stand in line if you want to dine.

Women recast in medieval frame

Losing agency, ancestral pain

And the court declares her body, her fate

Belongs to the public, belongs to the state

Bringing the rule of law to its knees

Satisfying feudal religious pleas.

So, the separation of bible and law

Center piece at the American core

Has been put to pasture, put to rest

Theocracy now the key word test.

.

And some books are bad, all day long

Stretching the cortex, shadow song

Giving us demons, unwatched play

The stuff that leads a world astray.

Listen to Daddy, the Mad Cow lot

A band of Christians in on the plot.

And keep reading: the story’s old,

Fascism is coming in from the cold.

Florida has said no to drag queen shows

The governor knows where the dark wind blows.

Gay marriage the next on their list

Get in line, the bible insists.

The Hitler crowd loved burning books

And loved those with proper Aryan looks,

The replacement theory reveals a horrid fate

Yet America hears the term as bait

For white Christians threatened by the rest

Go to Goebbels for their syntactical best

Up is down and black is blue

Our grammar and guns are coming for you,

History ends where our worship begins

Pay attention to our power, not what sings.

Mad Cow might be at the end of his rope

But the rest of us aren’t following a dope

The fascist map is the lay of the land

Religion lends a touch of a biblical band,

The Insurrection is right in front of your nose

Don’t mind me if I assume a pose.

The Civil War has already begun

Grab your gear, join the fun.

Church and state are one and the same

Welcome to the Mad Cow game.
