On the 29th of October, Unicorn Hunt and Campus London teamed up to create the finest Job Fair ever created in the galaxy. In just 4 short weeks, Unicorn Hunt and Campus worked as one team to attract over 700 attendees, 50 companies and over 150 jobs!!! 🚀✌️

A jam packed day of glitter.

From what we experienced it was a hugely successful day; Unicorn Hunt saw a 800% increase in traffic, we doled out 127 slices of rainbow cake, and over 200 people attended the CV Surgery staffed with especially clever Googlers.

Unicorn Greetings!

Unicorn Hunt is an online recruitment tool; a place for companies to entice the best digital talent through great UX, glitter and community, but we know that even a Unicorn filled, emoji-fied platform can feel a little 2D. We wanted to show the world we are real, and to physically manifest ourselves so you could run your hands through our mane, and admire the iridescence of our horn — no, YOU’VE A DIRTY MIND — in short, we wanted to be In Real Life!

But much more than that, we wanted to give something back to our customers, who give so much to us, and through our partnership with Campus London we were able to give 50 companies an incredible experience that ordinarily comes at great expense.

It’s our little way of saying Thank You and to celebrate so many wonderful companies and individuals.

Possibly the best cake in the world.

What worked well?

Culture Vultures, picking apart internal culture

We loved the CV surgeries and the content of the panels and talks, we had the incredible Andrew McDonough talking about technical hiring, as well as panels composed of Joe Scarboro, Sarah Drinkwater, Rebecca collins, Josh Rivers, Alistair Shepard and even our own unicorn Benjamin Southworth.

We’re convinced that one of the core parts of workplace happiness and finding your dream job is education and training. We had a blast curating and creating these little truffles of knowledge, and from the feedback we received you seemed to love them too!

Sarah Drinkwater, Joe Scarboro and WHATSHISNAME talk talent.

We’ll certainly be doing a lot more around these themes moving forwards, and we hear there are rumours of a podcast coming soon so you’ll have no excuse to miss out on the knowledge bombs.

Eager beavers thirsting for knowledge bombs.

What didn’t work so well?

We made a few mistakes, namely not spreading the startup stands across all the floors which meant that the basement felt a little too crowded.

Moving forwards we’ll be looking to improve on that, we’ve heard your feedback, and we’re already talking about how we improve the next one.

We’ll be reaching out to you all again to hear what else we can do to improve.

When will we do the next one?

We can’t tell you the date right now, but it will be very soon, and it will be epic. Sign up for our newsletter to get all the news before any one else!

What did we learn?

We learnt how valuable offline activities are when you’re an online business, it gives us a chance to celebrate our customers, to introduce the team, and it’s a way to personify and embody the brand values of Unicorn Hunt whilst giving something back to our wonderful community.

Acknowledgements & Thanks.

Huge thanks to the incredible Google Campus crew: Sarah, Fran, Julie and Connor, without whom none of this would be possible. Huge thanks again to the incredible companies who came a-hunting, as well as you, the attendees for gracing us with your beautiful souls on a Saturday.
