2- Amazon Prime football after December

Amazon agreed a £90million deal with the Premier League to start streaming top-flight fixtures from this season.

Naturally, you’d expect a bucket load of football for that fee.

But, with only one week’s worth of football so far, and only Boxing Day advertised, what do we have to look forward to?

Amazon Prime football for January has yet to be advertised.

This doesn’t mean it hasn’t been confirmed but doesn’t help you decide whether to pay for Amazon Prime once your Boxing Day free trial has expired.

3- How much does Amazon Prime football cost?

You can get Amazon Prime football for free on Boxing Day by registering for a free 30 day trial of Amazon Prime.

You will also get all the Amazon Prime benefits like this:

6- Is Amazon Prime football behind Sky Sports or BT Sport?

Amazon Prime football is advertised as live. Therefore viewers (and paying customers) are expecting an experience as close to being at the game as possible.

Lots of queries hit social media about the delay of Amazon Prime football compared to the likes of Sky Sports and BT Sport.

And these are usually behind most betting apps already.

How many times have you been watching a game and Skybet has popped up to ruin the next 30 seconds of the game for you? 😡

7- Is Amazon Prime football blurry or bad quality?

We’ve already had a week where every single Premier League game was televised.

This seems to be Amazon’s selling point…

WATCH EVERY GAME LIVE!

But, the reality is that almost everybody watched one game at a time, totally probably four overall.

Although a few people definitely tested the multi-screen TV/iPad/phone combination, only to realise that their internet wasn’t quite good enough.

As a rough guide, Amazon Prime football bandwidth is recommended by Amazon as follows:

  • Standard Definition (SD) videos: 1Mbps
  • High Definition (HD) videos: 3.5MBps

The reality is that you will have other devices/ people using the internet at the same time as the football is on.

Before you invest in Amazon Prime football, make sure you have a decent fibre connection. Personally, I’d suggest at least 20Mbps download before you even attempt to stream your games on Boxing Day.

Performing a speed test for Amazon Prime football

If you’re unsure of your current speeds, you can do a free test here. Just make sure you hit go rather than clicking on any of the ads.

8- Will Amazon Prime football be shown in pubs?

There’s not a lot that beats going to watch the game in a pub with your mates.

So this is an extremely important question.

With pubs already paying for Sky Sports and BT Sport, another subscription could be seen as a deterrent.

However, if a game is going to attract a group of 5 to go and buy 15 pints and 5 packets of crisps, it practically pays for itself.

According to matchpint.co.uk, yes, all 20 fixtures will be made available to commercial premises this December through Amazon’s Premier League Pass.

“Any pub, bar or club wishing to show the games will be able to do so through their existing set-top box equipment and satellite dish — whether that’s Sky, BT or Virgin.”

9- Does Amazon Prime football work with Apple TV?

Amazon Prime Video has been available on Apple TV since 2017.

You don’t need to do anything differently is you’re already an Amazon Prime Video customer via an Apple TV.

You can also use Amazon Prime football on both Android and iOS or via your games console.

10- So, is Amazon Prime football any good?

The jury is out as to whether Amazon Primes’s football coverage is superior to that of Sky Sports or BT Sport.

Fans’ favourites like Jamie Redknapp and Gary Neville have not been lured in by Amazon and remain committed to Sky. On the other hand, under fire pundits like Michael Owen have not been poached.

Amazon has retained the fresh talent of Peter Crouch. His transition from professional footballer to football media king has been instant due to his ability to *be a normal bloke*.

Peter Crouch interviews Steven Gerrard on Back Of The Net

The coverage itself is a little behind due to the nature of live streaming any service. That said, you are paying £7.99 (or nothing) for the service.

For fans looking for a cheaper alternative than Sky or BT, Amazon Prime football is a no brainer. Just make sure you turn off your phone notifications so the next goal or red card isn’t ruined.

For fans already paying for Sky or BT, there is no need to invest in another platform for football…yet.
