Cleaning Up Your Inbox Will Change Your Life
Hint: This isn’t about spam email. Well, not entirely.
The last time I looked at my inbox unread counter, it was somewhere around 77K unread emails. In the age of too much information, I don’t think this is rare. But it should be. Too many subscriptions and promotions is not a constant state that damages your inbox forever. We should take the initiative and clean up. Especially today, when the digital world is becoming saturated and filtered by Social Media companies that make us their product. To this day, email is the only digital communication method that remained both free and personal.
But when we get our inboxes spammed with promotional emails and subscriptions we never read, we lose sight of its importance. In this article, I will share with you what I learned from cleaning up my inbox.
Problem
When you let your unread counter rise up without cleaning it out, you think less of your inbox. It becomes a place that confuses you, and you enter when you have to. You will probably only enter your inbox when you see a familiar name on a notification, right? Why else would you want to subject your eyes to so much promotional text? It’s tiring.
