Looking awkward while waiting for your adult front teeth to come in is normal for most. But what happens when the process doesn’t go as expected?

Loose teeth

My youngest son, cute as a button with his big green eyes and curly brown hair, looked as weird as any other kid when his two front teeth fell out.

He was closer to seven when he lost them, which seemed okay at the time because I was a late starter, too.

After patiently watching my son’s new teeth start to drop down and fill in the gaping hole, I could see something was amiss. One tooth was larger than the other and was not growing at the same pace.

No matter, I figured eventually they’d fall into place, and all would be well.

Or maybe not.

What kind of teeth are those?

That poor kid. He had two new teeth, but they weren’t the same size, not even close. One of his adult teeth grew in like it should, but next to it was another baby tooth!

How was that possible? I never heard of a baby tooth replacing a baby tooth. Maybe with time, it will get…
