How to Turn Bad Experiences into Art

It’s all about harnessing creative energies

There’s a great quote from Neil Gaiman portrayed in a comic from Zenpencils.com.

Life is sometimes hard. Things go wrong, in life and in love and in business and in friendship and in health and in all the other ways that life can go wrong. And when things get tough, this is what you should do.

Make good art.

I didn’t realize how appropriate that quote would be in recent times.

We’ve all been through some pretty crazy events recently. Still, personally, the worst moments happened on two consecutive days: I got rejected by a really important literary agent and my girlfriend of three months broke up with me.

I won’t delve into any details about each event, but let’s say that I’ve never felt more broken than in those two days. And this is AFTER I decided to move continents to change my luck and find a better life.

I’m not going to lie to you and say that this process made my life better, but it certainly helped me cope, especially if you consider yourself a writer (or just someone who’s used a keyboard at one point in their lives).

Step 1: Plan the Art First
