After a 16 hour flight, we made it to Athens!!

Olivier got a “Priority Pass” before we left Canada and it gives us unlimited lounge access to almost any airport we fly from. We had a connecting flight from Bali to Singapore’s Airport that was in full prep / security mode for Donald Trumps arrive a few days later (The Trump-Kim meeting!)

After landing in Athens at 8am we slept for 45 min…. then ate the largest gyro ever, the size of a small animal. Walked around and then meet up with this guy 👇 George from Calgary for a tour around the night market, and an incredible view of town. Oh.. and ate another, better gyro. 😊

Athen’s is a lot of fun to walk around, you can picture it’s vibrant history IRL making the city an amazing place for the imagination.

Waited for a walking tour… but Maeghan read the time sheet wrong.. so we just ended up sitting here and then making our own walking tour.

The Parthenon. It was destroyed by the Persians 6 years after being made! Then rebuilt again.

It was destroyed because the Greek put ammunition inside the Parthenon and they enemies naturally targeted it

The sun was so hot, and as always… Maeghan forgot her hat and made an improvised one.

The restoration project currently running will be complete in 2020

We’ve taken a liking to beer tourism. Essentially Olivier finds a bunch of well rated craft beer places and we go out to find them. It usually takes us to areas of town that are out of the tourist realm and as we found the Lazy Dog Pub, we also found out that a free Jazz Festival was playing this week!

Dark chocolate oreo ice cream = DELISH.

We had the best day with George! He took us to places he used to hang out as a kid (he grew up in Athens!). Then we had many greek treats, including black ice cream. Then tried on sparkle clothing, and then drank craft beer!

Now we are off to Crete. Turns out our overnight ferry is actually a full blown cruise ship!
