Our days were filled with driving, hiking and drinking….. amazing hops and grapes were sold at every tiny corner store making it easy for us to convince ourselves that everyday we did something to celebrate.

This part of our road trip was our first taste of the Southern Alps and we got to go hiking in-between the west coast glaciers and explore the east coast beaches.

Here is our journey from Picton to Devil’s Punch Bowl. If the pictures don’t give it away… know that the south island is beautiful. ❤️

As you take the ferry from the North to South island, you pass through a channel of islands called a “Sound”. They are beautiful.

We left Picton and the day went from beautiful sun to terrible rain. So as we drove to Arthur’s Pass, we stopped at the Peter Jackson’s personal collection of World War I planes hoping to let the bad weather pass.

The sun came out while in wine country — it was a sign to enjoy our selves and the free wine tasting.

Devil’s PunchBowl. We have a great story here about our drone…. more to come soon.

Franz Jospeh Glacier

We had booked a Heli-Hike to land and hike the glacier, but the weather was not on our side and unfortunately cancelled the trip. It didn’t stop us from hiking the ground trail, even though it was raining so intensely and our pants were and jackets were soaking wet.

The rain flooded the path, causing us to be more athletic.
THIS IS WHAT A KIWI LOOKS LIKE! I had no idea….
