Something is seriously wrong…
In all the years I have lived in Australia I have NEVER experienced such varying weather patterns — leading me to wonder if our planet has reached a tipping point.
I read this worrying story written by Umair Haque, which convincingly traces the reasons why Rome is effectively burning in the Northern Hemisphere while we in the Antipodes endure weather patterns the likes of which we have never seen.
After reading his post, I was reminded of a Dr. Seuss book, The Lorax, I had used with my students quite a number of years back.
It’s a cautionary tale that looks at what can happen when money-hungry entrepreneurs exercise greed and questionable practices on the environment.
It’s a story that lays out the responsibility we owe to the planet, and depicts very clearly, through wonderful imagery and words, what will happen if we don’t.
