Things Need to Change For The Better
We need to free ourselves from reckless incompetence
I’m coming around to understanding why people voted for Trump.
People are getting poorer while the rich get everything they can lay their money-grubbing hands on. Everywhere, people are sick of governments doing nothing about it. People want to break things.
Some have likened Trump to a bull in a china shop — and consider this a necessary part of the process. Our old Wedgewood is outdated, expensive, and rarely used. Nobody wants fine bone china anymore. We can live with paper plates and plastic forks.
The government has become engorged. It’s an overpriced object only a few hold in reverence, like a Ming dynasty teapot gathering dust in a glass case.
Trump promised to break things to make a better America. He’s taken a wrecking ball to everything. His followers are mesmerised, his detractors watch on with dismay. The neutrals observe out of morbid curiosity.
We can all agree we need a better world, and if we can make things better for everyone, it’s a win-win for all.
The problem with human nature is that we harbour tribal instincts. We first want to make things better for us, our tribe.
