The Manifesto

I got tired of it. I got tired of allowing my clients to tell me how to run my business. The whole point of me becoming an independent consultant was to be able to take my brain (which is pretty awesome) and put it to valuable unfettered use in service of others. I was letting the tail wag the dog. A phrase I have used over and over again in various corporate roles and here I was doing it. This always ultimately leads to sub-par decisions.

I decided to put my foot down. Not anymore. The thing that makes me and my work so valuable is my strong intuition and willingness to absorb data in order to make optimal decisions. I wasn’t letting that happen. I was letting clients tell me what they wanted to see happen. The fact is, you’re hiring me because you don’t know what to do. You don’t know the best decision. And if you do, don’t hire me. You don’t need me.

In response to this realization and some inspiration from Seth Godin’s freelancer’s course, I sat down and wrote My Manifesto. It’s how I promise to work for any client. Uncompromising.

I’m not here to give you want you think you want. I’m here to give you what you need. Plus all this other great stuff.
