Election Day: Will Democracy Survive?

Today is Election Day. Throughout the years of our country, it has always seemed like just another day. Today, that is different. For the first time, most likely in our history, the country is tuning in and watching. On bated breath, we watch through thousands of streams and news outlets. What are we expecting? Violence? Protests? Perhaps we are waiting to see if this year, our collective voice can make a change. What happens if it doesn’t? What if the collective voice has been suppressed in those key battleground states? Will the electoral college win the President another four years? This is where our democracy is tested. The Electoral College was designed to give every state the same amount of leverage in an election. Each time we see an election the swing states are what we watch the closest. As of right now, sifting through the polls seems like a thankless task. We simply must watch and wait. We simply just let democracy shine it’s light through a very dark time.
