On March 8, 2002, for the second time in as many months, a middle-grade girl living in the Newell Creek Village apartments on South Beavercreek Road in Oregon City, Oregon, disappeared.

Her name was Miranda Gaddis.

Who was Miranda Gaddis?

Described in an article in March 24, 2002 edition of The Oregonian as

…a spunky girl who loved to dance and wear glitter….

at the time of her disappearance Miranda Gaddis was 13 years old and a seventh grader at Gardiner Middle School in Oregon City, Oregon.

She was active on the middle school dance team and had been preparing for a scheduled performance. The performance was supposed to be part of an event that had been planned to raise money for a reward fund for Miranda’s friend, Ashley Pond, the first girl to have gone missing.

But Miranda would herself go missing before she had a chance to perform.

Life at home

In addition to her more usual accomplishments and activities, Miranda Gaddis was also a sexual abuse survivor.
