Holding on despite the odds

I never wished for a life that wasn’t mine
They say things get better if you give it some time
The light comes and goes but it never stays
I don’t know how much longer I can be this way

Someone who’s meek
Someone who’s tired
Someone who’s weak
Someone who’s mired

I’ve always wished I could be someone more than me
They say things that happen are those meant to be
Trapped in the darkness and I can’t break free
Is this all that is left of me

Someone who’s lonely
Someone who’s lied
Someone who’s a phony
Someone who’s tried
