Unbroken I Stand

With no pride

Unbroken I stand
Yet pride does not embrace me
No honour nor joy

The world abounds in stronger men
There are youth that bear pain beyond unfathomable
And they contort that pain to exultation

I am blessed, truly
In both body and mind
I know no trauma

That blessed mind is a prison
From which there is no escape
Save for one method both craved and feared

I have known only good fortune
Yet I have earned none
Still, I am entitled to more

Unbroken I stand
Only for the grace of God
And the mercy of family
