Two sides of glass, in a roof (where it is often more spectacular as it looks more like it defies structural boundaries) or in walls, which create a void in a structure that is more definitive than a window. The effect is particularly enhanced if the angle between the planes of glass is frameless. It connects inside and out, while still being protected from the elements, more emphatically.
