How old were you when you started writing? When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I have been storytelling since before I can remember. My mother has pictures of me “performing” on a table when I was maybe 3? I loved reading, and was reading on my own before I started school, but I had never connected the two passions before my 1st grade teacher had us create our own book to show us the different parts of the book. I was hooked!
What would you say motivates you to keep writing?
The fans help keep me on task 😉 But I get these stories in my head, and I just have to get them out. The fans make sure that I don’t get lost on the next story and remember that they are waiting for the second and third books in the series they love!
Who are some of your favorite authors?
There are too many to even count! I read across most genres, and I have so many favorites! Orson Scott Card, J.K. Rowling, Alexander Dumas, Jane Austen, Stephen King, Sue Grafton, Clive Cussler, Richelle Mead, Magnus Von Black, Rhonda Davies, Joe Compton, Sydnie Beaupre, Andy Peloquin… Seriously, I could go on!
Do you write in first or third person, past or present tense, and why?
I dabble in a bit of it all (except second person, I haven’t done a choose your own adventure yet!) because I listen to the story that needs to be told, and tell it as it needs to be told. Sometimes that is first person present, sometimes that is third person multiple perspectives, and sometimes (though, again, so rarely it hasn’t happened to me… yet!) it is second person future.
What inspired the current or most recent story you’ve completed?
I like to think I am offering an alternative to those who are tired of the monsters becoming leading men and are looking for a little payback. Er, I mean, anyone who misses the days when vampires were scary and werewolves were cursed.
If you could be one of your own characters for a day, who would it be and why?
The joy of being a writer is that I can be any of my characters, any time I want! But I suppose, to play your game, I would say Cass from The Survivalist Bible. She is tough, but fair, family-oriented, but gets to kill the infected. There are days where I wish I could kill the infected….

For those who believe vampires should be killed, not kissed.
What would you do if you found your town had been infested with vampires? For Chris and his brother Lucas, the answer was simple enough: you fight back. Gathering a small band of other people in their town who have been affected by the vampires, they begin a resistance. But after a year of fighting, they have only managed to kill a handful, while the vampire leader has turned five times that many.
Then two enigmatic strangers appear, changing the group’s lives even further.
Fury and Havoc. They call themselves hunters, and want no part in this little band of heroes. Ordering them to lay low, the duo vow to rid their town of vampires. When Fury is injured, Chris aides these strangers, entwining his future with theirs.
Now that the vampires know the hunters are here, and that Chris and his friends have helped them, the group is in more danger than ever before. Lucas is torn between protecting his new family from the vampires, and protecting them from these seemingly inhuman beings who say they are there to help.
After all, what beings could be so powerful as to scare a vampire?
