What a year huh? With the players both getting paid, no longer needing to sit out a year to change schools as well as the ugliest old-boys network/collusion/beauty pageant you could imagine that will haunt college football for years to come, bowl Season has turned into absolute chaos.
In case you haven’t been paying attention, college football is a very big business. In 2019 it generated almost $16 billion dollars for the schools. College football coaches are the highest-paid state employees in almost every state. Assistant coaches make big money, schools sell star players' jerseys, hats, and tickets, and have larger TV deals than professional hockey or soccer combined.
Yet the players could not even bag groceries during the season or faced suspensions! And if the school a 17-year-old child decided to go to fired their coach, or if that coach just left the school and went to another one, the kids were stuck or faced losing a year of eligibility.
Who says we outlawed slavery in the 1800s?
