Traveling Europe on a student budget.

I n 2017, two of our team members, Izzy Nowick and Anton Libsch, planned a post-graduation trip to Europe on a shoestring with a “post-college” budget. Their journey included a 4-day stop in the scenic city of Geneva, Switzerland, where they experienced some of the great food, culture, and all-round peaceful environment that this beautiful area offers — all without managing to go bankrupt! Round trip flight and accommodations cost each team member $900.

How to get to Geneva (or anywhere else in Europe) for the least amount of money

M ost people plan to fly directly to their destinations, but given their tight budge, Anton and Izzy took a less direct route saving a great deal of money. They flew from Boston to Iceland to Paris, and then took a much enjoyed scenic 5-hour train excursion from Paris to Geneva through the Alps and picturesque countryside. Anton recommends traveling Europe by train in general “because it’s cheaper and there are incredible views.” The train trip cost 30 Euros or 35 American dollars. Today you can make the same trip in three hours on high speed trains.
