I Cannot Imagine

I cannot imagine being married to a man for 20 years…having 7 children with him…maintaining a marriage through an accident that caused a traumatic brain injury…watching him get shot by police while waiting for our son to come home from school…knowing instinctively that I’d need to record the incident…and having the restraint to stand back instead of rushing to his side, because just like my fatally wounded husband I, too, am African-American in the United States in 2016.

I cannot imagine.
My heart aches for those who face this reality on a daily basis.

I just cannot imagine.
