Greetings Aren’t Meetings
More poetry about knowing me
There is no hello
Only a long goodbye
How could we really meet anyone
So unique they are
The original experiences that shape them
The skin we might touch
But cannot wear
I might have been unaware in the past
That pasts grasp and whether you escape or not
Is a decidedly human task
What else have we created
That serves as a drag
Such a human thing to do
To over estimate the reach of our assumptions
Logical to us
Simple folly in the eyes of nature
The universe and it’s infinite spaces
That we try to constrain with a brain stained by the material world’s aim to train us
To confine the mind with the trapping of time
To make us use the tracks someone else has laid
Laid without regard for our idiosyncratic pain
Or at least….
It feels that way
Are all our pains not the same
An example of lack
Separated from what we attach ourselves too
Attachments not necessarily natural but factual
Given to us by those mad fools
Who we confused with leaders
But the train tracks lead us to crash
and we blame it on user error
Which I guess it’s true
But what are we to do when they train you using terror
And the unknown is what we’re scared of
So you don’t entertain laying your own path
Foreign as making your own math
How could everyone else understand that?!
Maybe it’s not for everyone to understand
So do we really meet people
Or do we meet how they adjust to society’s plans
A society who’s eye is fixed on defining who I am
But to me, it’s freedom that defines what’s human
