‘VALLEY OF THE DOLLS’: GLAMOROUS 1960'S STYLE…
Inspirational Fashionography of the 60s’
Based off the popular novel of the same name, the 1967 film ‘Valley of the Dolls’ followed the story of three women in show business addicted to pills and their eventual fall from grace. The cast starred Barbara Parkins (Anne), Patty Duke (Neely) and Sharon Tate (Jennifer). Directed by Mark Robson, at the time of its release the movie was a commercial and critical success with Tate earning a Golden Globe Award nomination for Most Promising Female Newcomer.
The film’s costume designer was William Travilla, who is most well-known for his work with Marilyn Monroe. Travilla created a number of looks for the movie including mini dresses, gorgeous gowns and even headpieces. The film is a must-see for any lover of 1960s fashion with its ultra-glamorous looks and retro hairstyles.

Harper’s Bazaar Singapore goes on a fashionable (and colorful) trip to Wolgan Valley, Australia, for its September issue lensed by Simon Upton. Starring Dempsey Stewart, Natalie Keyser and Ruby-Jean Wilson, Valley of the Dolls takes a look at the fall collections with the girls donning colorful wigs courtesy of hairstylist Michael Brennan. Styled by Kenneth Goh, the trio wears the biggest names in fashion including Lanvin, Issey Miyake and Yves Saint Laurent for the dynamic thirty-two page spread.
