Live from New Orleans ❤️
Finding “home” wherever you are.
Well, my friends …
If I’ve learned anything during the lost year of 2020, it’s how much I’ve misunderstood the idea of home. For me at least, it’s not so much a place, as it is a knowing … of where you belong.
Like so many of you, I spent the quarantine holed up with family — we muddled through a couple of midwestern blizzards, my son’s brush with Covid, and a weird autoimmune disorder that made my dog go blind.
But good news arrived with the spring: I finally escaped Indiana, got vaccinated, and traveled to where the good times roll — New Orleans.
Here’s the story of finding my way home to the Mississippi River.
Spring also brought bittersweet news — Medium pulled the funding from PS I Love You, and the publication will shut down on June 30. While I’m disappointed, I’m also confident the Universe is pushing us on to new adventures. I’ve loved every minute of my time as Managing Editor at PSILY. Saying goodbye is never easy, but … this is me, trying.
In New Orleans, I’m reconnecting with my family history, exploring some long-lost spiritual traditions, and rediscovering great food and music. I’m remembering how much I love to wander, far from home.
And of course, those drive-through daiquiri bars make every day a good day.
Here’s to the summer, my friends. Let’s make it one to remember.
Laissez les bon temps rouler! Let the good times roll.
