Unrelated to how you personally feel, 2015 has been a hell of a year for the music industry. I say this in the nicest way possible, as so much has happened. Recaps are cool, but if you’re on the same page as me, then you’re probably a bit bored by them. Eff that. Let’s look ahead with ten records you can really be excited about next year.

Editor’s note: Bear in mind, this order is totally random. We’re equally excited about all of these (well, most of them).

Lucius — ‘Good Grief’ (03/11/2016)

How time flies. Dropping their debut record back in 2013, it took Lucius about three years to prepare for that major first step. And they were rewarded oh so much! This was a record you could actually call ‘critically acclaimed’ — music journos loved it. Another three years has passed, and we’ve long awaited the new material to come, which sounds promising, too. You can tell they’ve been hanging out with David Byrne a bit.

Look at Jess and Holly looking damn fly in that music video.

Papa — TBD

Well, technically they haven’t announced their new record yet. But they’re heading back out on tour and they’ve just dropped a hot new single. Come on boys. Announce the album already!

David Bowie — ‘Blackstar’ (01/08/2016)

This list wouldn’t be complete without Ziggy Stardust himself. David Bowie, probably the most eclectic musician of our day, is finally releasing the follow-up to his 2013 record The Next Day. Has it really only been three years? Damn, he’s still got it.

Ty Segall — ‘Emotional Mugger’ (01/22/2016)

A Song A Day founder Shannon Byrne is especially excited about this one: Ty Segall is one of her personal heroes, if you will. Now the garage-rock-bozo is back and he’s bringing his brand new tunes with him. Check out his new song, “Candy Sam,” right over here.

Wolfmother — ‘Victorious’ (02/19/2016)

If any kind of music (good music, that is) fits your bill, then you will also enjoy the occasional hard rock song. Aussie band Wolfmother produces that kind of rock’n’roll — the kind we loved in the late 80s, early 90s. Title track “Victorious” sounds just as good as the song title is ambitious.

Santigold — ‘99¢’ (01/22/2016)

Santigold has been keeping us from her music for way too long — but alas, she has returned and she’s bringing her third studio album 99¢ along with her. The first single “Can’t Get Enough Of Myself” is a ray of sunshine. Seems like this record will be just the thing to brighten up a dull winter.

Suede — ‘Night Thoughts’ (01/22/2016)

Another album for January 22. British alt-rock band Suede is releasing their second album after their 10-year hiatus. This one’s called Night Thoughts, and it’s the perfect mix of 80s’ New Wave, 90s Britpop and a dash of 00s’ alternative rock.

Sia — ‘This Is Acting’ (01/29/2106)

Genius songstress Sia has been working behind the scenes for so many years. Her 2014 release 1000 Forms of Fear finally gave her the commercial breakthrough she really deserves. This is Acting is the follow-up, and she’s already teasing us with her energetic song “Alive.”

Eleanor Friedberger — ‘New View’ (01/22/2016)

You don’t come across many female folk singers who are able to craft beautiful songs without being at least a little cheesy. Laura Marling is one of them, and so is Eleanor Friedberger. Her new album is out at the end of January. Just listen to those guitar licks. Good stuff.

Savages — ‘Adore Life’ (01/22/2016)

Let’s hear it for Savages: The all-girl post-punk-band is finally releasing their sophomore effort Adore Life next year via Matador. If you enjoy the raw guitars, droning snyths and marching drums accompanying singer Camille Berthomiers wailing voice like I do, you’ll love this record. That’s for sure.

Duly noted…

That’s only 10 out of hundreds of records to be released this year. Rumor has it that we can also look forward to musical fixins by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Tindersticks, Tricky, Hinds, Panic! At The Disco, Yoko Ono, Chairlift, DIIV, Lucinda Williams, Gorillaz, Kanye West, The xx, Meat Loaf, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and so, SO many more…

Stay tuned.

A Song A Day’s got you covered.
