OPENING TRACK!!!!!!!! — Yes, yes, YES. Hypnotic synth swirls, zaps, and chimes lead into low decibel pads. Wait for the pan flute.
8:20 mark — Very Nice. Female vocal loop, zappy keys, and floating chimes. 13:10 — Flowin’. Female vocals, “Movin’ on from yesterday,” wonky bones (Rhodes), jazzy piano accompaniment. 18:00 — AURA STANZA.
28:20 — Smooth cooldown. Undercurrent buttons with bongo percussion. 31:30 — W h o o s h. Cautious uncertainty female vocals. The unsettled bassline reverberance adds exhilaration.
42:45 — LOVELY. Gliding bass viola riff, steel chamber drums. 48:30 — A CLASSIC. Female vocal hook, “Take me up,” true ambient and operatic vibez. All vets will recognize this track. 53:30 — Compelling female vocals, “We belong, reach for the stars,” as the piano does just that. 57:15 — Coda….ensoulment female vocals….as lights and shadows rapidly pass (Moog).
- OVERVIEW — You ever have those days where you need a couple “breather” moments? This ambient d&b voyage is an easy listen. The instrumentation offers Zen and aura vibez with some Tracey Thorn distinctive vocals. There are other well-placed tracks with the same disposition, however, this isn’t gloomy. For golden age (late 1990s) d&b fans that want breezy melodies and taps (high snares), this is tranquility. (59 mins 30 secs — Breezy & Tranquil d&b)
