In an increasingly fast paced and busy world we find ourselves living in, who couldn’t use a little extra time?

Whether you are a parent, a business owner, or an employee, we all have limits on our time and often end up feeling like there are never enough hours in the day.

You know the feeling. You’ve spent time on all the priorities that demand your time first. You can’t wait to find some time for you. To hit the gym, go to the game, kick your feet up and chill. Whatever your wind down looks like, we all need a bit of that time for self-care.

Well, I have a list of 12 apps you can download and use for your Mac to save you a little time. Who knows, maybe that time will add up throughout the day and save you that hour to go and push some weights, or hit the tarmac for a solid run before bed.

Note: I am not receiving any commissions whatsoever for any of these apps.

  1. Magnet — this app is pretty cool. Simple, but cool. It allows you to put multiple apps onto your screen at one time. A great way to save time by alleviating the need to go back and forth between apps.

2. Itsycal — for those of you like my wife who NEED to have everything in life planned out in a calendar, this app could be for you.

It is a tiny menu bar calendar. A quick glance will help you see everything you have planned out in a far more efficient manner than opening your actual calendar.

3. F.lux — is an app that warms up your computer display at night. It matches the lighting in your home. Many of us get work done whenever we can get work done. If you have kids, that is often after bedtime. This app might just help you get a few more Zzzz’s.

4. Alfred — is an app that combines all the benefits of Siri and Spotlight at the same time. Find files more quickly. Automate important admin tasks. This app is an absolute lifesaver in terms of time and productivity.

5. Appcleaner — is an app that allows you to get rid of any app from your Mac. It removes all traces of the app. A great way to keep your Mac running as efficiently as possible.

6. Gemini 2 — is another app to keep your Mac clean. Remember when you had Napster and had to go through all your mp3 files to see if you had duplicates? Well, this app goes through every file on your computer and cleans out duplicates you don’t need. Again, keep that Mac running smoothly!

7. Pixelmator — a great alternative to Photoshop. If you don’t want to pay the big bucks, spend $4.99 and get this great app. For those of you in marketing and sales, you can do all of the same things as Photoshop for a fraction of the price.

8. Mindnode — this app is a great one for those of you who like to brainstorm. I love this app. I’m a BIG brainstormer. Creating digital mindmaps to get my thoughts down on anything but a sticky note (which let’s be honest, I lose!) is alright with me.

9. Serene — is a productivity app on steroids. It allows you to prioritize tasks, set goals to work on each session until you complete them. It has features such as blocking other websites, and music to help you focus. Try it free, and if you like it, for $4/month, it may just bring you the levels of productivity you seek.

10. Krisp — for those of you working from home this is the app for you. We have all been there in the last two years. Phone calls or zoom calls with crying babies, dogs barking, the wife yelling at you because the toilet seat is up. Block out all that background noise with this app.

11. Cleanshot X — is one of the best screenshot apps out there. Edit, create gifs, and even annotate screenshots. For a one time payment of $29 for those of you with basic screenshot needs, you can’t go wrong. For those that need more in terms of cloud storage and features an $8/month cost will land you this app.

12. Shift — is a productivity app that allows you to streamline your accounts, workflows, and apps. No need to have a million and one tabs open anymore. This app screams productivity.

There you have it everyone. I hope that these apps help save you some time, save you some sanity, and create some serenity. Give them a try. Let me know what you think in the comments.

Talk soon everyone.
