If The Future Looks Dark, Find A Candle
In response to A Taste For Life Weekend Challenge: #11
I have three posts about candles in my Instagram account. I like to share them with you.
1. The candles at Regina RICA
Regina RICA or Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia is a pilgrimage site in Tanay Rizal. Rizal is one of the provinces in the Philippines. It’s quite far and the zigzag roads can make travelers dizzy. We went there last year.
2. On Christmas Day of 2019
I had read a beautiful poem from Legends.Report. It was so meaningful and Christmas Day was the perfect day to share it.
The four candles burned slowly. Their ambience was so soft you can hear them speak.
The first candle said…”I am PEACE but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit.” Then, peace’s flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.
The second candle said…”I am FAITH, but these days, I am indispensable. Then faith’s flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.
Sadly, the third candle speaks, “ I am LOVE and I haven’t had the strength to stay lit any longer. People put me aside and don’t understand my importance. They even forget to love those who are near to them. Waiting no longer, love goes out completely.”
Suddenly, a child enters a room and sees the 3 candles no longer burning. The child begins to cry, “ why are you no longer burning? You are supposed to stay lit until the end?”
Then, the fourth candle speaks gently to the little child, “don’t be afraid, for I am HOPE, for while I still burn, we can re-lit the other candles.” With shining eyes, the child took the candle of HOPE and lit the other 3 candles.
Don’t let the Flame of Hope go out of your life. With Hope, no matter how bad things looks and are…Peace, Faith and Love can shine brightly in our lives.

It was so surreal that barely 3 months later, Hope was the one who glued us from breaking into pieces.
3. When a Korean celebrity sung a Korean song that I was lost in translation
I sought Google’s help. It was a beautiful song. A song by g.o.d, a Korean boy band….
ONE CANDLE
The composer of the song said that the lyrics were inspired by a quote he saw in a graffiti while visiting New York City…Better to light a candle than curse the darkness.
