The Thief of Hearts
A Poem
According to science the heart plays a particular role in the human experience, and the heart has its own intelligence. If the heart feels love, it beats volumes pumping with adrenaline. If the heart is hurt, various emotions and feelings can get triggered which may result in serious harm to the person affected. The heart is a delicate organ. The source of pain can be external, be it a breakup, a divorce, a friendship or a relationship gone wrong, a loss of a loved one, or of a valuable thing , or a double crossing colleague, or an unexpected change in circumstance. When people are hurt, it feels like their hearts bleed. I used “The heart thief” here as a metaphor; this is a reminder to never put our guard down, because one of the most important organs in our physical bodies is the heart and it must be protected at all times.

This is not a novice
Some hearts are cracking
Their beats lagging
A dark shadow masked as good
Approached them and kidnapped the hood
It is not a person
It is not a friend
It is the ego so unkind
It is the opposite of humanity
It is with no doubt a deceitful
Ungrateful entity
A subliminal disparity
