From their viral covers to original music that is sure to become a summer favorite, King The Kid is one band to watch for. Having just finished up a tour with Hollywood Ending, King The Kid are off and running in 2014. In May, they will head back out on the road with Against The Current, but Ricky Ficarelli, David Michael Frank, and Jose Mostajo recently spent a few minutes answering some questions via email so you can find out a bit more about them!

Q: What brought the band together?
A: A love for music and how well we connected when we began to jam together for the first time.

Q: What do you love most about touring?
A: Getting to meet fans and play our songs in front of people is amazing. Seeing people sing along to our music is incredibly rewarding.

Q: What is the hardest part about touring?
A: Touring usually involves a hectic schedule. We’re in charge of driving ourselves from city to city, load [and] unload equipment, play the show, and do it all over in a span of weeks to months. That and car troubles, which we can’t seem to escape.

Q: Is there a particular food item, movie, or even board game that gets brought on the bus or in the van for every tour?
A: Nothing collectively. However, Ricky watches the Harry Potter movies every night; Jose has the fridge stocked with energy drinks; and David has the biggest mug you’ve ever seen filled with tea.

Q: As the band continues to grow, who are some people you would like to write with, tour with, or have produce some music?
A: We’ve always been a pretty self-contained band where we write, record, and produce all of our own music. However, we’re always open to collaborate with other industry professionals, and as far as touring, it would be incredible to play with bands such as the Foo Fighters and Paramore.

Q: How much of a role has social media played in the formation and growth of this band?
A: Social media has been huge from the start and it’s something we’re very involved with on a daily basis. Interacting with fans through different platforms — whether it’s twitter conversations, facebook posts, or live streams — they all go a long way in strengthening the bond between artists and fans.

Q: Now that we are through almost two months of 2014, what has been your favorite part thus far and what are you most looking forward to in the coming 10 months?
A: We just wrapped up our first tour of the year supporting Hollywood Ending and we had a blast. We also released a song a month ago that’s been well received. As far as looking ahead, we have more touring plans locked and in the making as well as finishing a record’s worth of new music we might be releasing, so stay tuned.
